Located on a hill in a private Boulder, Colorado residential neighborhood, this pool house renovation proved a challenging – and rewarding – construction project. The original lap pool structure was attached to the existing home, including extensive underpinning of the existing structure.
The goal with the pool house was to transform it to seamlessly match the elegant style of the main house. We achieved this by carrying out interior floor finishes onto the exterior heated patios, with large, open Nana doors to blend the interior and exterior spaces. We also installed an extensive dehumidification system to control humidity and condensation in the pool house, lowering maintenance costs and preserving materials for longer periods of time.
For sound control, a fabric ceiling provides the perfect subtle buffer. Solar thermal panels on the roof help heat the temperature of the water, ensuring the owners can swim all year long without worrying about their carbon footprint. Finally, windows along the roofline provide natural light in the space, while protecting swimmers’ privacy.
