Bridge House

This 6,500 square foot home sits on one of the most desirable streets in Vail. This site had an original house built in the early 60’s and was torn down to make room for a very contemporary and modern new residence. The homesite, however, presented the greatest challenges. It is on a hillside with deep site drainage needs, natural springs and is deep rather than wide.

A bridge was built as an essential element connecting the home to the main road which also provided for easy drive in access and parking. The bridge also added a stylistic and visual impact connecting the home to the mountainous landscape. The bridge was an exciting challenge as support pavers needed to be created, managing water drainage essential and preventing decay from abusive weather conditions a key consideration.

Some exciting exterior elements include a sod roof, buffalo stone quartzite and concrete panels. Inside, the home features natural rift sawn white oak, and glass tile which makes for a clean, contemporary style. Stone walls bring the outside in offering a continuation of the sleek style. There is an elevator servicing all four floors and a staircase with walnut treads inserted into the stone walls and open risers that joins the homes different levels.
