Aspen Modern

INTERIOR DESIGN Gonzalo Bueno,

Like many who end up calling Colorado home, Michael and Laura first fell in love with the mountains. Calling to mind Laura’s native Switzerland, they  wanted a space to accommodate both their young family and their extensive art collection. The natural surroundings greatly influenced designer Gonzalo Bueno of  Ten Plus Three studio in Dallas. Together, Bueno and Beck Building Company created a bright, yet warm industrial-inspired space that we call Aspen Modern.

The architecture of the renovation leaves no stone unturned in bringing the outside in. The main staircase is both kid-safe and bright and contemporary with a glass bannister. Built elements throughout the home call to mind organic shapes, be them hand-blown light fixtures or reclaimed wood accent walls.

The whole home’s design rests on a scale that is grand, but comfortable. Low, soft couches rest underneath enormous sculptural chandeliers. The simple, Danish-inspired furniture of the dining area draws attention away from itself and to the most important feature of the room – the stunning view of the Rockies. Tall ceilings and abundant light highlight the homeowners exceptional art collection. Bueno put it best: “The house hides corners, dramatic and full of personality. A relaxed luxury, the right balance between nature, art and architecture.”

The stunning design ended up earning international press
